Project 12 : Positioning the horizon
This is quite a simple project (although I did attempt it several times). The brief was to take a series of shots of a landscape with the horizon at different heights in the frame.
View across the fields, south of Barton
65mm f/13.0 1/500sec ISO 200
First shot. As you can see, it’s all about the sky and the main point of interest is the cloud formation.
This shot works quite well. There seems to be a large amount of sky but enough foreground to remain interesting. The horizon seems to lie on one of the rule of thirds lines which has a pleasing effect.
The horizon is close to the centre point here and it doesn’t seem to work as well.
Like the second shot, the horizon point on a rule of thirds line seems to work well. This time the emphasis is on the foreground.
The final shot doesn’t work very well because the foreground is too dull. If there had been an object in the foreground it would have worked better.
